Knitting CT Yellow: World Design Capital 2014 bid got a little boost this morning - yarn bombing style

This morning was cold and wet and a little more dark than expected... but all these factors made the 'Red Man' yarn bombing that much more epic. I'm as proud as only a yarn artist can be - I loved every minute of putting it up and can't explain the joy it brings to me, to see the smiles it creates.

Gavin Younge's 9m high red statue/man sculpture (Olduvai) welcomes visitors to Cape Town/Africa and is a 'tribute to mankind's evolutionary perseverance in Africa' -  in other words, the perfect guy to get the next pair of LWL leg warmers - and in bright yellow, supporting Cape Town's World Design Capital 2014 bid.

The leg warmers was 1.5m long and 1.3 m in circumference - epic.
It took about a week to knit and a whole pile of wool (probably between 15 - 20 super size balls)
- it was great doing the project with Leg Warmer Love & Virgin Active - fun all the way:)
Thanks to Ed Basson for this morning's awesome photos!
